Master Talk: Tseung Kwan O Desalination Plant Construction Site
25 secondary school students were invited to visit the construction site of Hong Kong’s first desalination plant that uses reverse osmosis technology. During the Master Talk, an engineering team from the Water Supplies Department explained how the technology works and demonstrated how the plant is helping to provide new sources of water that are not dependent on, nor adversely affected by Hong Kong’s climate. Students had the opportunity to try using Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Smart Site Safety System technologies (SSSS), both of which are being used in the actual construction project. The event provided students with an immersive experience through which they could better understand desalination processes, as well as the advanced safety management systems of the current construction site.
