STEAM Education Platform
Every brick and tile in the daily lives of Hong Kong citizens embodies the profound experience and wisdom of the construction industry, showcasing the extraordinary achievements and pride of the city. To effectively pass on this knowledge and promote the construction industry to the community for recruiting new blood, the Construction Industry Council, with the support of the Development Bureau and the Education Bureau, collaborates with professional organizations, universities, and industry groups to implement a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education initiative based on the construction industry.
This initiative follows the relevant STEAM curriculum guidelines for primary and secondary schools, offering students a multifaceted learning experience through construction, surveying, planning, horticulture, and engineering perspectives. By utilizing open learning resources, teaching kits, and online platforms, along with specialized STEAM learning centers, the program provides diverse activities and materials for schools, parents, and students.
The primary goal is to ignite students' interest in STEAM methodologies, enabling them to apply these concepts within the context of the construction industry. This hands-on approach helps students gain a deeper understanding of the diversity and significance of the construction sector, equipping them with the skills and knowledge essential for future careers in this field.
Through these collaborative efforts, we aim to nurture creativity and practical skills in students, ensuring that the construction industry remains vibrant and competitive on a global scale.
